Bosnian, Malay, Uzbek and several Turkic languages give the name in more than one script. Gothic is written in its own alphabet with a Latin transliteration.
Andorra, Andora, Andorre: one name in many spellings
Andorra is one of the few country names that most languages leave untouched. Fifty-three languages in the table, English and Catalan among them, write it the same way, from Afrikaans to Zazaki, and many others change no more than a letter. Polish, Croatian, Latvian and Lithuanian drop the double r and write Andora; French gives it a final e, Andorre, and Quechua and Aymara turn the o into u, Andurra.
Scripts other than Latin follow the sound. Russian has Андорра, Bulgarian and Macedonian Андора, Greek Ανδόρα, Arabic أندورا (Andūrā) and Hebrew אנדורה. The Indian languages split over the first vowel: Hindi has अन्डोरा with a, Nepali एन्डोरा and Bengali এন্ডোরা with e. Chinese renders the sound with three characters, 安道爾, Āndào'ěr.

Codes and names: ISO 3166-2:AD on the ISO Online Browsing Platform, as tabulated in Wikipedia's ISO 3166-2:AD, checked 28 October 2026. ISO added the parishes in Newsletter I-8 of 17 April 2007; the list has not changed since.
Old Andorra: how the capital is translated
The capital shows more variety, because its second half is a Catalan adjective that other languages translate. Andorra la Vella means old Andorra. Spanish turns it into Andorra la Vieja, French into Andorre-la-Vieille, Portuguese into Andorra-a-Velha and Latin into Andorra Vetus; Esperanto has Andoro Malnova and Tetum Andorra Tuan. Russian and most Cyrillic forms copy the sound with hyphens, Андорра-ла-Велья, while Chinese keeps only the country name and adds 城, city.
Escaldes-Engordany is the youngest of the parishes. It was separated from Andorra la Vella in 1978. Its ISO code, AD-08, therefore stands after AD-07 for the capital and not among the older parishes numbered 02 to 06. The head of state is shared by two co-princes, called Copríncep episcopal and Copríncep francès in Catalan.
