Subdivisions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in local languages: cantons
Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, and the Brčko District; the Federation is divided into ten cantons. Every unit is listed here in the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, the Federation, its cantons and their seats also in Arebica, the Arabic-based alphabet for Bosnian, with the Croatian names and the ISO codes the cantons had until 2015.

One name, three alphabets
Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian name the units in nearly the same words, and the list shows each name three times. The Latin form comes first, then Cyrillic, where č is ч, ž is ж and nj is the single letter њ, as in Ливањски кантон. The third form is Arebica, the Arabic-based alphabet for Bosnian, which runs from right to left: Sarajevo becomes سارايەوۉ.
Croatian uses its own word for a canton, županija, and builds the adjective in the feminine: Tuzlanski kanton in Bosnian and Serbian is Tuzlanska županija in Croatian. The tenth canton is a special case: ISO listed it by number, as Kanton br. 10 and Županija br. 10, with Livanjski kanton, after its seat Livno, and Hercegbosanska županija as its names.
Entities and district of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The three units of ISO 3166-2:BA with their seats. The Arebica column is filled for the Federation only, as in the source.

The subdivisions today
ISO 3166-2 coded the ten cantons from its second edition of 2007, added the country prefix and the Brčko District in 2010, and deleted the canton codes on 27 November 2015, so that only the two entities and the district now have codes: BA-BIH, BA-SRP and BA-BRC.
Republika Srpska has no cantons. Its seat is Banja Luka, Бања Лука, and like the district it appears here in Latin and Cyrillic only.
Questions about the subdivisions of Bosnia and Herzegovina
How many cantons does Bosnia and Herzegovina have?
Ten, all in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Republika Srpska and the Brčko District are not divided into cantons.
What is Arebica?
The Arabic-based alphabet for Bosnian, written from right to left. The list gives the Federation, its cantons and their seats in it, for example سارايەوۉ for Sarajevo.
Do the cantons still have ISO 3166-2 codes?
No. ISO deleted BA-01 to BA-10 on 27 November 2015; only BA-BIH, BA-SRP and BA-BRC remain.
