Wherever possible I’ve shown the local form in the native writing system (Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Cyrillic, Georgian, Greek, Japanese, Korean, etc.) with Latin transliterations / transcriptions. This was possible using Unicode. An excellent source of information about Unicode is Alan Wood’s Unicode site.

The information on this site comes from a variety of sources. Some very helpful sites were:
Gwillim Law’s site on “statoids”
KNAB, the Place Names Database of EKI (Eesti Keele Instituut)
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A wonderful French site full of information about languages: LEXILOGOS
Another great site mostly about Native North American languages: LANGUAGEGEEK

I especially want to thank many friendly people from embassies and diplomatic missions all over the world for their help in correcting the country entries.

⇨ Some languages need special fonts installed on your computer to be displayed correctly.
A great site about fonts and what they actually look like is WAZU JAPAN’s Gallery of Unicode Fonts.
